The Large Zuckermann Clavichord
I finished the case construction in the fall of 2009 and during the cold dry winter months I built and installed the sound board (complete with a custom VM gilded rose made by Elena Dal Cortivo). I like to do this type of work when conditions are driest! The instrument was completed in the fall of 2010.
The main difference between this clavichord and the standard Zuckermann kit instrument is that I've included dowel reinforcement at each corner, imitating the dovetail joint effect of interlocking sections. I doubt that this will affect the overall sound of the instrument but it makes me happier.
This instrument also includes cherry veneering, suede on the music desk, ebonized moldings and leg accents, and hand-made paper from Brazil on the inside of the lid, fallboard and inner case areas.
